Nudity

It sound like a case of the emperor's new clothes.
People in cars and at their computers have this strange idea.
When a child hides his eyes he believes he is hiding because he can't see his mother.  When his mother is not in sight, he must be alone.  BOO!
You people are smart enough to know what I'm getting at.
Anything shouted on a street corner is meant for all in earshot unless you have a mental deficiency.
When parents let their children wander the streets of the internet., they are allowing THE WORLD into their child's bedroom.

THE WORLD, AND ALL THAT THAT IMPLIES

Say what you will about raising a child.  I haven't done it yet, but I'm certain I'm gonna want some control over what they are exposed to and when.
As far as corporations cybervetting; it would be foolish of them not to. It would be about as foolish as posting shots of yourself doing anything illegal. There are a lot of foolish people out there and I wouldn't want them to work for me and I wouldn't let them wander through my child's bedroom without my knowledge.

Corporations operate by a different set of rules.  They don't do anything that won't benefit them.  Charity is not free. Neither is PR

That's life in the U.S.A.  It's the bargain we've all made. (or did we?) I think we got a pretty good deal.  Just go on the internet sometime. You'll see.

I suppose that's easy for me to say, having no online presence.  Maybe people will eventually get the idea. The WORLD is watching.

Neutrality Fatality

Money always wins.
Whenever you're not sure how something's gonna turn out, remember that.

350 words a week is a lot more when you're certain it won't be seen.

googlegobble googlegobble one of us

The thing about Google is that they are simply the ones that hold that position.  It would seem we could do a lot worse. I just hope they understand and appreciate the responsibility in their hands.
On a lighter note:
The Internet is slowly creating, what is known in some circles as, the hive mind.  Eventually there will be a collective consciousness. Everyone will have the knowledge of everyone else. Communications will happen instantaneously. Our enemies will be engaged with coordinated maneuvering.  The power of many minds, many eyes and many viewpoints will be insurmountable.  The intelligence quotient of the people in advantage will rise exponentially.  This will result in a huge evolutionary gap.  The human race will be severely divided into two very separate cultures, and eventually, in essence, two separate races. The technologically enhanced race will dominate over the others and eventually other races encountered throughout the universe.  We will be unstoppable.
Unless . . .
When that much of our lives is in the ether I can't help but wonder about its vulnerability to such things as electromagnetic pulse or other such technologies. Does anyone know more about this?  Is there an easy answer? I did try researching it but it didn't provide any satisfactory answers.
What if eventually we became so connected and dependent on this connection that without it we were completely worthless. Not only would we have only very basic knowledge in our heads, most of which was used to operate the devices that we depended on, but our physical strength would be severely atrophied because of all the measures we had taken to avoid physical work.

I remember a time when I had everyone's phone numbers memorized. I remember a time when GPS didn't tell us how to get everywhere.  They say driverless cars are coming soon. This means even more time to watch youtube (appx 52 minutes a day).
When we have evolved to our weakest state, the "subhuman" race will have evolved enough to know our weaknesses and be physically strong enough to exploit them. We won't stand a chance.
I shouldn't worry about things that won't happen in our lifetime . . . RIGHT?

The critics have a Google-plex.

GOOGLE

Information. All of our music, money, photos, personal and financial records. It used to be tangible. It has slowly become nothing. Is GOOGLE to blame? The world, especially America, is obsessed with comfort and convenience. What do we have to show for it? An empty hand?
This is where I get all sci-fi on your asses.
It's far from over. I predict that more of what we own will dissipate into nothingness. Eventually even our clothes will become digital information. Imagine a jumpsuit with a motherboard. Outfits can be changed in a matter of seconds into an entirely different ensemble . . . with your phone. One day we will develop a form of teleportation that only transfers your information, creating an exact copy and destroying the original. This will, of course, mean immortality, but we'll be able to inhabit the universe, and eventually create copies that don't require oxygen.  But I doubt, very highly, the human race will last that long.
The older generation is afraid to lose what they have. The younger generation won't know or care what that was. But that can be said of all life, and we will lose what we have one day.
Back to GOOGLE
Information.  I find it funny that the people who seem to bitch the most about them are the ones that wish THEY were making that money, the ones who can't seem to squeeze their way into that racket, or the ones who get rich off of fear-mongering. I guess every generation has to have it's devil.  If you want the world at your fingertips the cost might be your soul. (I'm not religious, if you couldn't tell)
A friend of mine came to me with a shocking realization one day. He said, "One day I will have been dead for a million years." I wasn't blown away by his epiphany, but it put things in perspective. I have a feeling that if the human race is wiped out AFTER I die, I won't know or care. In other words: How much does anything really matter. Nothing has really convinced me that this world will continue to exist after I die. That sounds self-centered because it is. Everyone is self-centered unless their schizophrenic. Cynical? Maybe.
Gravity pulls me in the existential direction. I apologize if you're not up for that.
You can't be like that! You have to care! Being a living creature of some agency on this planet, it's your duty as a human. For future generations.
Bullshit! It's my duty to get my homework done so I can get out of school and make some money for the girl I married. It's my duty to have stupid conversations on-line with myself. It's my duty to waste your time.
Thanks for hangin out.

Fred First? I'll be late.

The Fred First interview was hard to read. I had to skip bits. It was just too excruciating.

I'm having a hard time with this blogging stuff so if you've already read my rants about this, I apologize.

I have a hard time imagining people reading his blog.  I guess that's just a testament to how I don't fit in. I'm not saying that mine will be better.  Maybe his blog is infinitely more fascinating than what I read but it makes me think there's a lot of people out there with nothing to do and no where to go.
I also have a hard time imagining people being interested in my bullshit. At least to that degree.Read about my latest ruminations and the dream I had last night.  Look at a slideshow of my vacation. Yow.
Man. 350 words a week might be tough.

Maybe I'll have to stop writing real things. Maybe I just won't write anymore about Fred First.
For some reason I can't get it left justified anymore.
I'm stuck in the middle.
     Help. Wait. what happened?

By the by: I'm sorry for calling you at home Dr Macek. You were very gracious but I still felt bad.  As you can see, I figured it out.

scary stuff

  • What if everyone in the world had a camera?
  • What if everyone in the world had the ability to contact everyone in the world?
  • What if you wanted to do things most people consider wrong or evil?
  • What if most people sucked?

Man this blogging stuff is harder than it should be.  Is it just me? Probably.  I'm a weirdo . . . strange. . . evil? I'm definitely a little out of place as I've always been.
I'm just glad they found a good use for all these beautiful buildings. (finally)
Just practicing.
